The Damariscotta - Why is it Called a River? |
The coast of Maine is made up of numerous long inlets and estuaries that are called “rivers”, although they are salt water. The Damariscotta River is one of them. From the entrance to Clifford’s Cove, which is at the mouth of the "river", one looks out directly to open ocean. |
