Clifford's Cove and Clifford House
This updated 19th century sea captain's house is located in South Bristol, a
picturesque little fishing village which has one of the few working harbors
remaining in Midcoast Maine.

The house is in Clifford's Cove on Rutherford’s Island at the mouth of the
Damariscotta River. The Island is connected to the mainland by a short bridge in
the village.  Clifford’s Cove is one-quarter mile from open ocean.

Clifford House is a three bedroom Victorian house with an attached two bedroom
apartment.  On three and a half acres, it has a spacious wrap-around yard with
plenty of room for volleyball, badminton, and croquet. There are wonderful views of
the water from both the house and apartment.  You can watch the sunset from the
screened-in porch.

It has a dock and float which are available for use by the tenants.  A boat mooring
is available in the cove.

Clifford’s Cove is home to a small friendly summer colony of which Clifford House
is by far the largest property.  The Clifford House land is bordered by the ocean,
woods, and a quiet town road.  The house is close enough to the water so that you
can watch the fishing boats but far enough that they don’t wake you when they start
working at 5:00 a.m.

The house is surrounded by gardens, yards, fields of wild flowers, and woods.  It is
on a small country road that sees more walkers, joggers, and bicyclers than cars.  It
is separated from the road by a long stand of tall trees.  From the grounds you see
no other buildings except for the caretaker’s cottage.

Clifford House is private but not isolated - the perfect place for a family vacation.
